Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has said there is no evidence that women were forced to become sex slaves by the Japanese army during World War II.

He told reporters there was "no evidence to prove there was coercion", adding "we have to take it from there".

A Cabinet spokesman appeared to play down the comments by saying Mr Abe stood by a 1993 government apology for the use of so-called "comfort women".

Women's rights activists in the Philippines have denounced comments by Japan's prime minister that there is no evidence Japanese soldiers forced women into sexual slavery during World War II.

Shinzo Abe said on Thursday there was no evidence to suggest women were forced into having sex with Japanese soldiers as so-called "comfort women".

Rechilda Extremadura, executive director of Lila Pilipina which represents former Filipino sex slaves, said she was "enraged" at the comments.

TOKYO: Prime Minister Shinzo Abe denied Thursday that Japan's military had forced foreign women into sexual slavery during World War II, contradicting the Japanese government's longtime official position.

Abe's statement was the clearest so far that the government was preparing to reject a 1993 government statement that acknowledged the military's role in setting up brothels and forcing, either directly or indirectly, women into sexual slavery. That declaration also offered an apology to the women, euphemistically called "comfort women."

"There is no evidence to prove there was coercion, nothing to support it," Abe told reporters. "So, in respect to this declaration, you have to keep in mind that things have changed greatly."

日本を侮辱する反日似非右翼どもとその首領安倍の妄言に強く抗議します！
従軍慰安婦は性奴隷であり、日本帝国主義の犯した罪悪のうち最も大きなものの一つです。
日本政府が謝罪と補償を誠実に行うべきなのはいうまでもありません。
其の上で、右翼であっても日本の侵略と植民地支配、戦争犯罪を美化する人ばかりではないと田仁さんに申し上げたい。
どうか右翼全てが時代遅れだとは言わないでください！

　何を持って右翼とするかという問題は、複雑な問題ですよ。「小林多喜二には愛国心はなかったのでしょうか？」と問うているのと同じですね。

真の愛国者さん、誠に申し訳ありませんが、私にそのような余裕はないので、先にお詫びしておきます。
可能ならば、「真の右翼道」を打立て、全右翼界を「天下統一」した後に、再度言って頂けると幸いです。
私が右翼と捉えているのは、フランス革命の王党派ではなく、国家神道カルトの徒ですね。
宋の遺臣から派生して、排外的な純粋主義を妄想し、明治の内務省と一緒になって、渡来的な伝統文化の破壊と公共財産の奪取を恣にし、内外に多大な死者を出す大敗戦で焼太った。
ぶっちゃけ、不倶戴天です。
